About Keyword Density Checker

The Keyword Density Checker counts how often a focus keyword or phrase appears in a block of content and expresses it as a density percentage, alongside a ranked table of the top 1, 2 and 3-word phrases actually used throughout the text — useful for spotting both under-optimization (a focus keyword barely used) and over-optimization (keyword stuffing dense enough to look unnatural to both readers and search engines). It works as a keyword density tool, a keyword frequency seo analysis, and a quick way to check keyword density before a draft goes live — all in one box.

It's used before publishing a blog post or product page to confirm the target keyword appears a reasonable number of times without repeating it unnaturally, to see what phrases a piece of content is actually 'about' from a purely statistical standpoint (which sometimes reveals it's accidentally more focused on a secondary topic than the intended one), and to compare draft revisions to see how editing shifted the balance of repeated phrases. There's no single 'correct' density — most modern SEO guidance treats density as a rough signal rather than a target to hit exactly, since Google's ranking systems read for topical relevance and natural language, not a percentage threshold.

The focus-keyword match is exact and phrase-aware: searching for 'seo content' only counts consecutive occurrences of that two-word phrase, not separate instances of 'seo' and 'content' elsewhere in the text. The top-phrases table extracts 1, 2 and 3-word combinations (n-grams) from the same text and ranks them by density, filtering out phrases made entirely of common stop words (the, and, of) so the table surfaces meaningful phrases instead of filler. All analysis happens instantly in your browser as you type or paste.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's a good keyword density?

There's no strict target — most SEO guidance today treats density as a loose sanity check rather than a number to hit. A density that reads naturally when you read the content aloud is generally fine; if a phrase feels repetitive to a human reader, it's likely too dense.

Does the tool count 'seo' and 'seo content' as the same thing?

No — the focus keyword field matches the exact phrase as a consecutive sequence of words. 'seo' appearing alone elsewhere in the text doesn't count toward the 'seo content' phrase count.

Why are 'the', 'and' and 'of' missing from the top phrases table?

Phrases made entirely of common stop words are filtered out, since they're rarely meaningful for understanding what a piece of content is actually about.
