High-quality canvas scaling keeps the output crisp when you resize a photo down, and picking the right output format matters as much as the dimensions: PNG preserves transparency and sharp edges for graphics and screenshots, JPEG suits photographic content where a smaller file matters more than lossless detail, and WebP generally gives the best size-to-quality ratio in modern browsers. One limitation worth knowing: resizing can only work with the pixel data that's already there. Downscaling a large photo looks great thanks to high-quality smoothing, but enlarging a small image beyond its original dimensions can't invent detail that wasn't captured — the result will look softer the more you scale it up, which is a fundamental limit of raster images rather than something the tool can fix.
