It uses the browser's native `MediaRecorder` API to encode your microphone stream directly to a compact WebM/Opus file (or an equivalent format your browser supports) as you speak — there's no intermediate upload step, because processing happens entirely on your device. Each recording in the session shows its duration and file size, and you can play any of them back, download them individually, or delete the ones you don't want to keep.
